little black dress to Kick Off LA Fashion Week. What is the perfect little black dress?"

August, 2003 -- Fresh on the high heels of last year's hugely successful debut event, little black dress is back to celebrate Los Angeles based fashion designers and LA Fashion Week with a sensational event to benefit Sherry Lansing's Stop Cancer organization.

little black dress' debut event in the fall of 2002 brought a dramatic close to LA's fashion week. "It was a thrill to see the LA Fashion Community celebrate their creativity and unite to get behind a worthy cause," said little black dress founder, Emmy Cortes. The event drew nearly 1000 guests of style and influence and over 40 designer participants.

"LA has been an influential style-setter for the world in fashion without receiving the recognition as a fashion capital. It is exciting to be at the forefront of the tides turning," says little black dress co-producer, Nancy G. Cohen.

What:    The little black dress fete will showcase the diversity and talents of LA-based designers through their creation of the "perfect little black dress." The dresses will be silent auctioned during the event with 100% of the proceeds going to Stop Cancer. In addition to the silent auction, party guests will cast their vote for the "perfect little black dress" and the winning designer will be recognized.

Who:    From street to couture, 40 of LA's finest designers will be featured including Richard Tyler, Trina Turk, and Justine Bateman (see attached list for confirmed designers).

Marques Wyatt, world-renowned DJ and godfather of the West Coast house scene, and Liza Richardson, Grammy nominee for Best Score Y Tu Mama Tambien and KCRW DJ, will be spinning their eclectic mixes of dance music for partygoers. Critically acclaimed chef Charlie Palmer will provide sumptuous hors d'oeuvres and desserts to keep revelers satiated and invigorated to bid on their favorite little black dress with enough energy left over to dance the night away …remember all proceeds from the auction go to charity.

Guests will include fashionistas, movers and shakers, mavens and mere mortals. Tickets will be available at www.lbdla.com in advance beginning September 15th. Prices are $60 in advance and $75 at the door. A limited number of VIP tickets will be available for $100. In addition to attending an exclusive reception with designers, VIPs will receive a gift bag filled with the latest fashion and beauty essentials worth over $250 including Maybelline Blackest Black mascara, Illume candles, Sugar cosmetics and more.
